Job Summary

The Process Engineer has day-to-day responsibility for the safe, cGMP manufacture of all active pharmaceutical ingredients and other chemicals produced by Rhodes Technologies. The Process Engineer will act to ensure the safest and most efficient use of resources in the manufacture of existing products, the commercialization of new products, and the installation and construction oversight of new projects. In this role, the Process Engineer has direct responsibilities in the following key areas:

Maintaining the highest manufacturing standards in Safety, Health and the Environment.

Maintaining compliance with cGMP’s, FDA, OSHA, EPA, Federal, State and Local regulations.

Championing a team based environment in process manufacturing, process design and project implementation activities.

Principal accountability for OSHA Process Safety Management implementation on assigned projects.

Implementing new product introductions in a cost efficient manner consistent with Rhodes business needs.

Designing and installing new projects in a cost efficient manner consistent with Rhodes business needs.

Primary Responsibilities

Provide leadership, and direct the work of other Rhodes employees, contractors and custom manufacturers to achieve the highest standards of safety, health and environmental compliance.

Maintain compliance with cGMP’s, FDA, OSHA and other regulatory bodies.

Champion and support team based work efforts in manufacturing, maintenance, engineering and process development areas.

OSHA Process Safety Management Compliance.

Implementing new product introduction in a cost efficient manner. Scope includes performing limited bench scale lab work, compilation and analysis of safety data, performing engineering calculations and modeling, process conceptualization, process economics estimation, program management through cross-functional team leadership.

Designs and implements projects in a cost efficient manner. Scope includes preparing engineering bid packages and project estimates, day-to-day oversight of contract engineering work and construction work, project cost accounting, installation and operational qualification oversight.

Education and Experience

Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering or closely related field.

Advanced degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Business or related area is a plus.

2+ years of work related experience in manufacturing, engineering or project management work associated with pharmaceutical ingredients, specialty or fine chemicals.

Batch manufacturing experience with a wide variety of unit operations and related equipment.

cGMP manufacturing experience is a plus.

Direct supervision of manufacturing, maintenance or engineering personnel is a plus.

Experience in both the project engineering and process engineering areas is a plus.


Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The Process Engineer must apply a broad range of safety, environmental, GMP, engineering, leadership, and technical skills across a broad range of issues. Critical to the success of this position is adherence to cGMP and OSHA Process Safety Management regulations, development of robust, reliable production processes, and cost effective installation of durable, multi-purpose (flexible) chemical and solids processing equipment.
