Project Coordinator/CAD Technician

Job Summary

The CAD Technician/Project Coordinator provides CAD support for engineering projects and maintains Campus drawing database across all drawing disciplines. In addition, the CAD Technician/Project Coordinator provides administrative support for engineering projects and project management programs.  The CAD Technician/Project Coordinator also provides administrative support for Environmental Health and Safety Programs. 

Primary Responsibilities

This position is responsible for providing CAD support, administrative, and technical support including but not limited to the following;

Prepare basic complexity 2D Computer Aided Design (CAD) drawings across all disciplines – Architectural, Civil, Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Piping, Process

Works from schematics, sketches, and verbal instructions to refine engineering drawings

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and plan sheets

Revise drawings as needed based on redlines and markups

Produce As-Built drawings at the end of projects

Recommend updates that may improve our process and CAD standard

Adhere to industry codes and standards as well as department practices and procedures

Maintain and build block library

Maintain Campus drawing database within AutoDesk Vault

Coordinates with the IT Department to ensure that updated CAD software and hardware is installed and maintained

General project document control and file management

Preparation of technical documents as directed by engineers or other technical specialists

Support for the development and maintenance of systems related to project engineering, construction, and commissioning programs

Support for the development and maintenance of systems related to Environmental, Health and Safety programs

Assistance with project administration including action item and task list management, project cost management and project schedule management.

Education and Experience

Associates degree in computer Aided Drafting and Design (CAD or CADD), drafting, engineering technology, or related field

2+ years of work related experience in computerized drafting in the architectural, engineering, and/or construction fields.

2+ years of work related experience in administration of manufacturing, engineering or project management systems.

Demonstrated proficient use in AutoCAD

Demonstrated effective use of computers, including the MS Office suite of software (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point, etc.)

Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively (written and verbal) with staff and contract personnel

Strong organizational skills and sound judgment in establishing priorities among support requests and project work.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The responsibilities of the CAD Technician/Project Coordinator will require communications throughout the organization but will also include interface with outside organizations including Rhodes Contractors. Complexity of communications will vary based on the tasks and responsibilities.Within regulatory and Rhodes cultural bounds, the CAD Technician/Project Coordinator makes day-to-day decisions related to administrative support of technical projects and programs.  Required tasks and activities will be performed with clearly communicated objectives, however, the CAD Technician/Project Coordinator must be able develop strategies and tactics to achieve the stated objectives.
